Pulitzer and YouTube in the Same Sentence?
The Pulitzer Center sees its mission as three-fold: supporting quality journalism in a multimedia environment; leading a global conversation about connecting international and local issues; and reaching out to educational institutions from middle school through college.
In 2009, the 4-year-old non-profit won an Emmy, a Webby and the National Press Foundation’s Excellence in Online Journalism award.
That innovation across platforms is evident in last year’s Project: Report winner, Arturo Perez, who used his grant to produce a film in Jerusalem focusing on youth perspectives of Israeli-Palestinian dialogues. In his video announcing this year’s contest he calls his experience life-changing.
